OVERVIEWUnderstanding visitor needs for a modernized digital experience
The Montgomery Museum's website faced challenges in navigation, user engagement, and mobile responsiveness. The goal was to modernize the site’s look and improve functionality by optimizing its landing page design for both desktop and mobile users.
PRELIMINARY RESEARCHObserving real users & identifying pain points
In-person observations were conducted at the Montgomery Museum, where visitors' interactions with the website were analyzed. Pain points included difficulty finding exhibit information, unclear calls-to-action, and inconsistent mobile experiences. This helped define personas, map out user needs, and generate ideas for the redesign.
CHALLENGE
Streamlining access to exhibits and museum services
Visitors struggled with outdated design and cluttered content that made it difficult to quickly access essential information like ticketing, events, and exhibits. The challenge was to create a user-friendly, visually appealing website with a clear hierarchy and easy navigation.
WIREFRAMING & PROTOTYPING
Sketching initial concepts to refine user flow
Developed multiple low-fidelity wireframes to explore different design options. These wireframes were centered around clear navigation paths, visual appeal, and easy access to key museum features. After refining the options with group feedback, the best ideas were selected to move into high-fidelity prototyping.
LEARNINGS
Refining the design through research and iteration
Insights from user research and team discussions helped shape the final design. By analyzing pain points and iterating on wireframes, improvements were made to enhance navigation, readability, and content hierarchy. The final design reflects a more intuitive and visually engaging experience, ensuring visitors can easily access key museum information.
